Host: Kate Barr
Cost: $50 per family
Kate Barr will serve as the “Expert Camper” to introduce families to the arts and skills of setting up tents, rain and bug-proofing, fire-starting, storage, organization and campfire cooking. She will begin with a pre-camping discussion of equipment and tents. One morning, afternoon, and evening of instruction at a mutually agreed on date and campground. Each family will make separate arrangements with Kate.

Tired of signing up for an event that you can’t attend? Hate not finding the perfect auction event to amuse everyone in the household? Want to support UUCV anyway? Lunch Lovers has the answer for you! On Saturday, April 1 (April Fool’s Day), Lunch Lovers will host the Pay It Forward Event. What do you have to do? First, don’t show up; we won’t be home. Second, perform a random act of kindness sometime in April. Third, send us a brief description of what you did and how it was received (email@example.com). The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2017. We’ll do a composite write-up for submission to the UUCV Newsletter/Website. Finally, relax and enjoy the day in a setting of your choice!
2014 Can We Vote On The Answer? Trivia Night (for 20)

Hosts: Laura Rumley and R.J. Lesch
Join Laura and R.J. at their home for a night of food, beverage, company, and brain-teasing trivia. Compete individually or in pairs in various categories, then square off against other winners for the Final Championship Round. Teenagers and children are welcome but subject matter is probably not of interest to younger audiences.
2016 Make Your Own Totem Necklace (for 8)

Host: Char Klein
Cost: $25 per person
Using polymer clay, we will create a totem animal to use as a pendant. We will then finish necklaces or wall hangings using a variety of natural and human-made beads. Location: Char Klein’s house. Ages 10 and up.
2017 Retro Pajama Party (for 8 adult females)
May 5 to May 6, 7 p.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Hosts: Kate Barr and Ella Poland
Going “Down the Rabbit Hole” has nothing on this event. You will leave your adult cares behind as you join Kate and Ella at Kate’s Victorian home on Pomfret Street. Be ready for a Blast from the Past: retro music, games, food and film abound. Giggles, shared secrets and shrieks are expected. Sleep is acceptable, but not required.
2018 Wine, Womenfolk, and Song (for 25)

Ever been to a Womenfolk event? We are a small ministry group at UUCV and put on a heckuva auction event if we do say so ourselves! This year: At Leslie Carr’s Carlisle home, we will have an early evening of hand-crafted hors d’oeuvres, wine, whisky, fabulous company, and live piano music by Carol Knisley. Please join us! Everyone is welcome: the full rainbow, (which, yes, includes men!). There will be vegetarian options.
2019 Country/Blues Line Dancing (for 20)

Here is an opportunity to learn some basic country/blues line dances. Richard and Muriel Bronakoski will provide the dance instructions and will also include dessert, snacks and drinks. Enjoy the evening with friends in the UUCV Social Hall. Listen to some music, learn some new dance steps and have a little fun.
2020 Magical Mystery Tour (for 12)

A celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles album “Magical Mystery Tour”. It will be an afternoon and evening of singing Beatles songs with a live band, watching Beatles videos, playing games, eating food, and just pure fun at our home.
2021 Croquet and Billiards Picnic (for 20)

Enjoy a summer picnic at the DeWalls on a Saturday in June. The Croquet court (and maybe Badminton) will be ready outside with the pool table open inside for others.
HSO Concert after Dinner at the Vernon’s (for 6)

Enjoy a light supper at the Vernon’s followed by a concert on the Dickinson Campus to celebrate the 4th of July. The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra performs seasonal and patriotic music. Bring chairs for the concert on the lawn.
