This is a chance to use your German over a traditional coffee/tea and cake Kaffeeklatsch. No matter whether you are a native speaker of German, learned German way back in high school or are presently learning the language, this is for you. Dave and Janet Mooney will be starting at Forge and view remnants of mining and charcoal industry on South Mountain. Climb to former midpoint of AT at Center Point Knob and then on former AT route to White Rocks. Picnic lunch on cliffs overlooking recently purchased ATC lands. Dinner on the Orient Express: June 9th
Travelling with Rita van Alkemade & Tim Tilton. Please join us for a culinary trip evening dinner based on the original route of the Orient Express, where we begin in Paris and continue on to Constantinople. The hosts will be in formal dinner attire and you are encouraged to join them in dress as you desire. We begin our journey in Paris and depart with amuse-bouche. We continue east to the Munich Black Forest area for a salad. On to Prague for vegetables, with the main course from Budapest complete with vegetables from Bucharest. What's in Your Pantry?: Date to be determined by host and attendees
Have you been thinking about ditching the processed food and making the shift to whole food, but didn't know where to begin? Join Holly Smith, whole food enthusiast and local farm consumer, for a 2-hour workshop on the hows and whys of transforming your kitchen to include pastured meats, real dairy, and nutrient-dense broths. Nutritional and environmental benefits will be discussed based on the science of the Weston A. Price Foundation and common sense.
Discussions will include ingredients to avoid and why, and options for replacing those boxes in your pantry or refrigerator with real food that your body loves.
This workshop is open to 4 adults (individuals and/or couples, or a mixture thereof). Option: If someone wishes to host at their home, a "Pantry Scan" will be conducted to evaluate which products can be replaced with healthier options.
Attendees will take home lots of information, resources, and recipes. A follow-up trip to a local farm or two may be included, based on attendee interest.
Required: An open mind, general interest in the subject at hand, and a willingness to consider lifestyle changes. Open to 4 adults. Cost $20

Learn to Knit; Make a Scarf from the needles down: Date to be determined
Our queen of the knitting needles, Joan Bechtel, is going to be leading a class to teach you how to knit. Join Joan for this informative workshop so you too can learn the basics of this wonderful hobby in 4 sessions. This is a four session class. During the first meeting we will make the needles and settle on the yarns we will use. During the following three sessions we will learn to caste on and knit the scarf. In the end we will caste off and admire our beautiful scarves. The cost to you for 4 sessions is $40.00 which includes all materials needed for making the needles and knitting the scarf. The sessions will be scheduled for the participants' convenience and will conclude by May 1st. 2012.
