The Heart of Our Community
Our Sunday morning services, held at 10:30 a.m. are the core of our community, the "glue" that binds us together. The children of the congregation attend the early part of each service, which always includes a story especially for them. Duane and Judy alternate preaching responsibilities. Once each month, the congregation's Program Committee presents a service, encouraging lay participation, providing occasional guest ministers, and promoting the arts as part of our services. Members are encouraged to become involved in our spiritual exploration and expression--either as one-time participants or as active members of the Program Committee.
Programs for Children and Youth
Our religious education program aims to nurture the concept of the worth and dignity of every person, the value of diversity of thought, and the validity of a variety of religious beliefs. The curriculum is designed to help our children and youth to begin to find their own answers to life's questions, to provide them with tools to build their own theology, and to develop the tolerance of ambiguity that is characteristic of mature persons.
Adult Enrichment
If Sunday services are the cake, our other activities are the
frosting: potluck dinners and picnics, summer family baseball games
and campouts, a large book discussion group, regular programs for women,
an annual UUCV Auction, "Getting to Know You" sessions and Sunday Soups--all
help us to share experiences and perspectives and to obtain spiritual nourishment.
A variety of adult religious education classes offer additional opportunities
to continue our spiritual journeys.
