Worship Information

The Worship Theme for April is “Transcendence”

April 1: “Christ without Easter/Easter without Christ” How do we imagine an unresurrected Christ?  How do we imagine Easter without Jesus?  Rev. Aija Simpson preaching with worship associate Christin Kapp.  Music Director David M. Glasgow provides service music, and the choir sings about multiple Jesuses.

April 8: “Pascha – The Power of Remaining Obscure” What does it mean to be passed over? When is it a good thing to be ignored?  Rev. Aija Simpson preaches for this multi-gen service with worship associate Julie Ham. Marc Renault provides service music on guitar.

April 15: “A New Future” Where are we going?  Rev. Aija Simpson preaches her last service before beginning her sabbatical leave with worship associates Michele Burton and Rev. Dr. Kathy Ellis.  Music Director David M. Glasgow provides service music, and the choir sings an exhilarating new take on a Sondheim-Bernstein collaboration.

April 22: “Love and Fear – Hope and Urgency” We may have already reached the tipping point for global catastrophe due to climate change yet we cannot let our fear blind us to hope or stop us from acting.  Rev. Dr. Kathy Ellis preaches with worship associate Dick Poland.  Pat Spader offers a prelude, and Music Director David M. Glasgow provides service music with a “green” tinge.

April 29: “Earthiness, Simplicity and Sensuality” bell hooks wrote, “living simply makes love simple.”  Rev. Dr. Kathy Ellis preaching with worship associate Michele Burton.  Music Director David M. Glasgow provides service music, and the choir sings of loving and living simply.
